We feature lots and lots of fireplace makeovers on the Brick-Anew blog, and there’s a reason for that–we love ’em!
While looking for a featured post, we came across a special DIY fireplace makeover that offers a step-by-step how-to for creating your own elegant marble and brass finish for your hearth.  Kristine at The Painted Hive takes us through the process of building her “hearth” creating the marbled appearance, and even the construction.

This very instructive post makes it look easy, but the results she achieved are nothing short of remarkable! The end result looks like it was torn from the pages of Country Living magazine.

“My initial desire was to use a solid slab of real stone. Ha, ha, good one Kristine. Turns out even an inferior grade off-cut was gonna be waaaay too pricey. So, I considered several other options including, though not limited to; laminate, engineered stone, concrete, paving, brick, tile and vinyl wrap, before eventually settling on a DIY experiment using…contact paper!”-ThePaintedHive.net

Now, it’s your turn! Check out the post, and put Kristine’s words and ideas into action in your home. If you decide it’s something you want to take on, we’d love to see the results!
