Step 1: Install the Frame

Your first step in installing fireplace doors should be to install the frame of the doors. Installing the frame provides something for the doors to attach to and should therefore form the first part of the fireplace door installation.

When installing the frame, take care to make sure the brackets are aligned and as straight as possible as this will affect how easily the fireplace doors open and close. However, you will be able to straighten up the frame at a later stage by adjusting the tightness of the screws on either side. You will need a #2 Phillips screwdriver to complete the frame installation. Follow these simple steps to complete the frame installation without any hassle.

Step 2: Attaching the Doors

Attaching the doors to the frame is part of installing fireplace doors where you install the sheets that will keep the soot and ash inside the firebox. If you are attaching glass doors, you need to take extra care when handling them as they are easily breakable.

For a good finish, you can wipe the doors before installation as this will ensure they are nice and clean when finally set up. The fireplace doors will have clips on them which will attach easily to the frame. No extra hand tools are needed to attach the doors. There are also multiple doors to install, so make sure you follow these easy steps and repeat them for all the remaining fireplace doors.

  1. With the handle at the top (handles must be at the top) fold door together, and locate the bottom door pivot pin.
  2. With panel door at 45 degree angle, place door pivot pin into the frame bottom receiving hole clip.
  3. Press down on door and slide until top pin slides into the top receiving hole clip.
  4. Repeat Steps for remaining door.
