Options when Refacing Brick Fireplaces
Let’s face it. The fireplace façade may be even more important than the fire itself. After all, even the most impassioned fireplace enthusiasts don’t build a fire every evening, but your hearth’s exterior is visible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
One option is fireplace refacing. In the strictest terms, this means installing a brand new facade over the existing fireplace brick. Sometimes this means putting marble or stone or even an artificial building material over what might be your home’s biggest selling point—specifically, your brick. If you go with marble or stone, however, you’re looking at big bucks. And if you go with something artificial, you run the risk of making your living area appear, well, cheap.
All you really want is a fresh look for your existing fireplace brick. And the last thing you want to do is to spend fistfuls of money you don’t need to spend or to hide something potentially gorgeous behind something arguably less appealing. All you really need to do, in a lot of cases, is play up what you already have.
With heat-resistant fireplace paint, the prospect of a new look for your outdated fireplace is well within reach. The simple application of a couple coats of Brick-Anew fireplace paint will hide nasty fireplace blemishes without hiding the true beauty of the brick itself. Better yet, it won’t cost you a fortune.
