Brick-ANew FAQ's
WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU ORDER BRICK-ANEW?
When you order the Brick-Anew paint kit you get five shades of latex paint
specially formulated for use on fireplace brick. You also get all the tools you
need to complete the project - a paint tray, rubber glove, brushes, rollers,
sponge, paint tape, and stir stick. Also included is a step by step DVD, as well
as written instructions, that shows you exactly what to do.
I'VE NEVER DONE A DO-IT-YOURSELF PROJECT BEFORE. HOW HARD IS THE
PROCESS TO DO?
Painting your brick fireplace is easy and takes only a few hours to complete. The
only prep work necessary is to brush off your brick to remove any loose mortar
or dirt. First, you paint a base coat over all your brick and mortar. Then you
follow up using either your small roller or sponge to apply three "undertone"
colors and a glaze. That's it! There's nothing hard or tricky about the process.
You just follow the steps in order and you will get great results. It would be
pretty hard to mess up.
I DON'T LIKE THE LOOK OF FIREPLACES THAT LOOK LIKE SOMEONE JUST
SLAPPED A CAN OF PAINT ON TO COVER IT UP. HOW IS BRICK-ANEW DIFFERENT THAN
THAT?
Brick-Anew really looks like real brick - not just brick that's been painted
over. If you purchased new brick, every brick wouldn't look the same and every
brick wouldn't be one solid color. That's the look you get when you apply the
shades of paint according to the directions in the kit.
CAN I BUY BRICK-ANEW IN A HARDWARE STORE?
We sell Brick-anew only over the internet at this time.
WHAT IF I ORDER THE KIT AND THEN I CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT DOING THE
PROJECT?
You can return the kit as long as none of the cans have been opened. There is
a 20% restocking fee on any return.
WHAT IF I APPLY BRICK-ANEW AND I DON'T LIKE IT?
We have a Satisfaction Guaranteed Policy.
HOW MANY COLORS DO
YOU OFFER?
We have three color kits to choose from.
CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE COLORS?
The twilight taupe is our most popular color with shades of tan, taupe,
beige, and cream. The frosted sunshine is a few shades lighter with a light tan
base coat and very subtle yellowish/cream undertones. The misty harbor has
shades of light gray.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Atlanta, Georgia
HOW IS YOUR PRODUCT SHIPPED?
FedEx Ground, free for orders over $199.00
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?
We ship once or twice a week depending on order volume. If you need an order
to arrive by a specific date, please call or email us and we will do everything
we can to meet your deadline.
HOW MUCH BRICK DOES ONE KIT COVER?
One kit will cover up to 100 square feet of brick. If you have 70 - 100
square feet, you should order an extra can of the base coat. Some brick can be
porous and you don't want to run out of paint in the middle of your project.
HOW MUCH OF THE BASE COAT COMES IN THE KIT?
You get two quarts of the base coat in each kit. You can order extra if you
need to for $24.95.
WHAT IS THE CLEAR MATTE FINISH?
The clear matte finish is a polyurethane product that is applied after the
project is complete and the paint is dry. This is an optional step that protects
against scratching, etc. It's not shiny, so you can't tell by looking at your
brick that it's there.
IS THE CLEAR MATTE FINISH INCLUDED IN THE KIT?
The clear matte finish is not included in the kit and needs to be ordered
separately. The cost is $24.95.
WILL BRICK-ANEW WORK ON A FIREPLACE THAT'S BEEN PAINTED BEFORE?
Brick-Anew can be applied right over a fireplace that's been painted. If it's
an oil-based paint, you should purchase a lacquer sealer to go over the brick
before applying Brick-Anew.
ARE THERE ANY HARSH FUMES?
There are no harsh fumes since Brick-Anew is a latex product that's been
specially formulated for use on fireplace brick.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?
It depends on how many square feet you have to cover, but for a standard
sized fireplace it will take about 5-6 hours. Keep in mind that all that time
isn't spent working. You have to allow time for the paint to dry between steps.
DO YOU HAVE TO BE ARTISTIC TO USE BRICK-ANEW?
You don't have to be artistic to use Brick-Anew. Just follow the steps in
order and you'll be fine. The cans are numbered in the order they're used. You
can adjust the amounts of paint you apply on each step. You might like a little
more of color #1 and a little less of color #3, for example.
